I saw a news report that said that a staff member at a rehabilitation centre for people with disabilities has been arrested for sexually abusing the people he was assigned to help. It also said that there is a possibility that the abuse has been going on since 1985.
Am I surprised?…
Infuriating, but no, not surprising. I’m a social worker for people with disabilities and I’ve had police refuse to take my statement or give me a police report when I called 911 after witnessing a staff person abusing a nonverbal woman with developmental disabilities. The police can’t be trusted to protect any population except rich, white, cis, able bodied men. I left out gay on purpose, btw.
