Duh to the picture and fuck you to this fucking humidity.
my brain’s exploding from all the awesome
For those acting like Maura/femmetrash was hating on “hard femme,” did you even read this part of her post?
“If folks come to femme identity because “hard femme” speaks to them in a way that femme doesn’t then that’s beautiful.”’
In this case, the word femme brings to mind white cis women because those are the people who get the most attention due to white and cis supremacy. Maura spoke about queer history monolithically because her privilege made her end her thoughts when they articulated her experience, and she fucked up.
But I also want to address the people who are acting like “hard femme,” is a racialized term. It’s associated with racialized terms, “hood femme,” “AG femme,” etc, but “hard femme,” is not a racialized identity. If so, I would be super pissed that so many white people are on the fyhf blog and so many white folks are taking on the identity.
I agreed with, and still agree with, the original intent of the “I don’t identify as hard femme,” post. When people say things like, “I’m femme, but tough,” or “I’m femme, but I can use tools,” it’s femmephobic. Y’all, I’m femme AND tough. That was the point.
It’s obvious that many think femme is weak without a qualifier. This obviously doesn’t mean that everyone who uses a qualifier does so for that reason. You know who you are. And if you know that you aren’t one of those people, the post wasn’t criticising you.
